India continues to engage US: Govt to House amid fears of reciprocal tariff

Amid fears among exporters of higher tariffs in the lucrative US market from April 2 when reciprocal tariffs are set to come into effect, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry told Lok Sabha Tuesday that the government is engaging with the US to eliminate tariffs and non-tariff barriers and improve trade.

The latest edition of the World Air Quality report released by Swiss Air Technology major IQAir has sobering news for India. The country has 13 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world. The country is ranked the fifth-most polluted country, after Chad, Bangladesh, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The Rabi (winter-spring) crop, especially wheat, is still in the field and one can't be fully sure about the yields to be harvested. But production concerns are not confined to wheat. Delhi's air worst among capitals, Byrnihat's the world's most foul: new report

A Swiss company that tracks global air quality has named Delhi as the world's most polluted national capital for the sixth straight year. Thirteen of the world's 20 most polluted cities are in India, according to the World Air Quality Report for 2024 released by IQAir on Tuesday. The most polluted city in the world is Byrnihat on the border of Assam and Meghalaya, according to the report. IQAir examined data collected from 40,000 air quality monitoring stations in 138 countries. The report looked specifically at concentrations of fine particulate matter, or PM2.5, one of the smallest but most dangerous of pollutants.

China, Iran, Russia hold joint naval drills as tensions rise between Tehran and US

China, Iran and Russia conducted joint naval drills Tuesday in the Middle East, offering a show of force in a region still uneasy over Tehran's rapidly expanding nuclear programme and as Yemen's Houthi rebels threaten new attacks on ships. The joint drills, called the Maritime Security Belt 2025, took place in the Gulf of Oman near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf through which a fifth of all crude oil traded worldwide passes.

Hisar likely to house India's first pvt sector trainer plane manufacturing unit

India's first-ever private sector manufacturing facility for trainer aircraft is likely to come up in Haryana's Hisar by the end of the year with Tamil Nadu-based diversified Sakthi group and Austria's Diamond Aircraft Industries joining hands to set up a final assembly line (FAL) for the latter's popular DA40 NG trainer planes, which will be supplied to various flying schools across the country.
